Luxury GL trim
Exceptional condition and very original, this Audi 80 has an odometer reading of just 8,487 kilometers and is in top condition, virtually as it was when it left the assembly line in Ingolstadt. It is a luxury GL (Grand Luxe) model, featuring chrome trim and a more luxurious interior.
The car comes with original documentation, including an authentic registration certificate, owner’s manual, delivery document, and original invoice. It was registered and delivered in Trieste, Italy, on October 12, 1979. The vehicle has always been owned by the same person and has been well preserved in Italy. It was recently imported by us. The original price was 6,670,000 Italian lire. Several original keys are included, along with original tax and insurance documents located behind the windshield. The original license plate number is TS 225381.
The exterior is in exceptionally original and neat condition, with no damage and excellent fit and finish of the body panels. All windows are original, tinted, and the rear window is heated. The lights, rubber seals, and chrome trim are in very good condition. The chrome-plated hubcaps on the 13-inch rims are original. All tires are original Continental tires from 1979 with sufficient tread remaining, though replacement is recommended for safe driving. The paintwork in the original color “Mexico Beige” (color code LE 1 M) remains in very good condition with a beautiful sheen, showing no fading despite Italy’s sunny climate. The car has been stored indoors.
The interior features attractive sand-colored velour upholstery, beige fabric trim, and luxurious burgundy sound-insulating floor mats. The dashboard is functional, clearly laid out, finished in black synthetic leather, and in immaculate condition. The headliner is like new. The interior is in excellent condition with no damage, as if time has stood still. The rear doors have been opened very few times. The spacious trunk is also in very good condition and includes the spare tire, spare bulbs, and a jack.
In 1979, the Audi 80 was available with four different 4-cylinder engines: a 1.3-liter, two 1.6-liter carbureted engines, and a 1.6-liter fuel-injected engine. This particular car has a 1.3-liter (1,272 cc) engine with carburetors, producing 60 horsepower. It offers excellent fuel economy at 1/14.9. Paired with a smooth 4-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive, it provides a good balance of comfort, sportiness, and safety. The car is equipped with disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The underbody is rust-free and in excellent condition. The engine compartment is very clean and dry. The vehicle drives, shifts, and brakes well.
The 1979 Audi 80 GL is part of the second generation of the Audi 80 (B2), a model that played a significant role in Audi’s growth.
