Description

Austin Healey 100/4 BN1 for sale

Exterior: The light blue metallic color is for an Austin Healey the same as red for a Ferrari. It perfectly suits the shape of the car. The interior of this Austin Healey 100/4 BN1 features dark blue leather, complemented by dark blue side screens and a soft top. As you can see in the pictures, this car has the silver painted spoke wheels making it look a bit more “British”. A set of Vredestein classic tires have been fitted and the BN1 has a perfect ride height. The paintwork is close to perfect, and the chrome details are in great condition. The front windscreen of the 100/4 can be adjusted to two positions: as seen in the pictures, or by loosening one nut on each side to set it lower. This tells you about the racing heritage of Austin Healey. The idea was not only to increase top speed, but also to save your screen from stones while chasing your competitors. When parking your Austin Healey outside overnight, you also have a dark blue tonau cover that is much easier to fit that taking the top up. I believe that many Austin Healey owners seldom use the soft top, which can be easily unscrewed from the car, providing additional space behind the seats.

Interior: It is only when you sit inside the Austin Healey 100/4 BN1 that you realize how delicate the car is. The doors are remarkably lightweight, and the car is easy to get into. I cannot think of many classic cars that have a more beautiful dashboard than that of an Austin Healey 100. This car has been fitted with a very firm and beautiful wooden steering wheel. The original steering wheel will also come along with the car. In the trunk, you will find your spare wheel and the main power switch.

Engine: The engine starts easily, and given that the car is from 1954, it boasts impressive power. Moreover, it has been converted to full M specification, providing the car with approximately 20 extra horsepower. Achieving this was made possible through several modifications, including the installation of larger performance 1 ¾” SU H6 carburetors, a specially designed inlet manifold, cold air box and air tube, high compression pistons, a high lift camshaft, a specialized distributor, and an aluminum head cover. This was also referred to as the Le Mans kit and was normally installed by the Austin Healey dealerships. In this car, you still have the 3-speed gearbox with overdrive making it a cruiser even on the highway today. The car had a professional restoration in 2015 including full rebuild of the engine and gearbox. The most recent work done was replacing the head gasket in 2023 and fitting a new thermostat.

History: This Austin Healey 100/4 BN1 was sold new here in Sweden by Ostermans in Stockholm. The date of the build is 28th of January in 1954. It is today exactly like when it was delivered. In original “Healey Ice Blue” with dark blue interior. Matching numbers engine.

The car was restored during a 10-year period and was completed in 2015.
Full engine rebuild including the head with hardened valves for leadfree fuel
Complete new wire harness
Complete bodywork and paint
Everything in the brake system replaced
2023 new head gasket, thermostat and oil change
Rust protection inside the frame from underneath
The Austin Healey 100/4 BN1 comes with full owners’ history and a large binder of collected invoices for parts and labor completed of the restoration in 2015. To sum it up, it is today a wonderful classic ready for new adventures.
