Description

The legendary Austin-Healey was built between 1959 and 1967. Throughout these years, continuous improvements and upgrades were developed, culminating in the Austin-Healey 3000 Mark II in March 1961. It was introduced to the market equipped as standard with three SU HS4 carburetors and also featured an improved camshaft. The Mark II was available as a four-seater (BT7) and a two-seater (BN7).

In 1962, the Austin-Healey 3000 MKII A, now called the BJ7 as a four-seater, was introduced as the successor to the MKII. The number of carburetors was reduced to two SU HS6s because the three HS4s were difficult to synchronize. The Healey was a fast and attractive car that sold particularly well on the American market.

The major advantages of the MKII A over the MKII include the rounded windshield, hinged side windows that provide quick shelter on cooler summer evenings, and the easy-to-operate convertible top, now without a separate frame. The classic dashboard, which was later replaced in the MKIII, adorns the MKII A versions for the last time. This makes the MKII A a highly desirable Healey; in fact, it is one of the most sought-after Healeys. It combines the beautiful classic looks of the earlier Healeys with the comfort of the later MKIII models.

This MKII A Healey has been in the same owner’s possession for decades. In the early 1990s, he completely restored the car himself. Since then, the Healey has been carefully maintained and has proven itself on various trips abroad. The engine was modified at that time to run on unleaded gasoline. The condition of both the paintwork and interior remains exceptionally good after all these years. The underside of the Healey, fitted with a reinforced chassis during restoration, is painted in the body color. The fit of the body panels is excellent, demonstrating the craftsmanship involved.

The car features beautiful 15-inch 72-spoke wheels, a Moto-Lita leather sports steering wheel, a “Works” gearshift lever with overdrive switch, Securon multi-point seat belts, a fire extinguisher, and a VDO vacuum gauge. Under the hood, there is an electric cooling fan, an aluminum valve cover, a high-output “Flame Thrower” ignition coil, and various upgrades. A photo album documenting the restoration is available.

This Healey is in very good condition. Classic Park specializes in purchasing, selling, and consignment sales of classic and exclusive cars.
