Description

Austin Healey 3000 MK3 Phase 2 1966 for sale

Here we present an Austin Healey 3000 Mk3 BJ8 Phase 2 sports convertible from 1966, undeniably one of the most coveted models in the Austin Healey lineup, and for good reason. The Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III, introduced in February 1964, brought significant improvements to this iconic sports convertible. The engine received a power boost from 136 bhp to 150 bhp, courtesy of a new camshaft and carburettor upgrades, resulting in enhanced performance. Notably, power-assisted braking became a standard feature, contributing to improved safety.

The Phase II version, released in May 1964, modified the rear chassis for increased ground clearance, further enhancing overall performance. Additional functional improvements included the introduction of separate indicator lights in March 1965, contributing to improved visibility and road safety. The MK3 enjoyed a production run until the end of 1967.

Interior: This Austin Healey Mk3 offers a comfortable and family-friendly interior. The seats are designed for longer journeys without fatigue, with rear seats accommodating children. The wood dashboard, chrome instruments, Derrington steering wheel, extra gauges in the center console, and a conveniently placed overdrive button on the shift lever all contribute to the appealing interior. The car features a new dark blue soft top, dark tonneau, and a matching soft top cover.

Exterior: The iconic Healey blue over ivory combination adorns the exterior, having received a fresh coat of paint four years ago, maintaining its impressive condition. Chrome details are well-preserved, sitting on 15-inch silver painted wire spoke wheels. The slightly lowered stance adds to its correct appearance.

Engine and Mechanics: The 150hp 3-liter engine runs and sounds great, complemented by a stainless steel exhaust system for the perfect sporty note. The front carriage benefits from polyurethane bushings, providing precise handling. An aluminum radiator ensures optimal cooling during hot summer days. Notably, the rear drum brakes have been upgraded to disc brakes, accompanied by additional improvements like a new alternator, starter motor, and regular servicing. The four-speed transmission with overdrive makes it an excellent driver's car.

History and Documentation: This Austin Healey 3000 comes with a comprehensive list of recent work and accompanying invoices. Originally sold new in the UK, it arrived in Sweden in the early '80s, with only two owners since. The current owner has cherished the car for almost 27 years, attesting to its well-maintained history and enduring appeal.
