Julien's Perspective
SOME THOUGHTS ON THIS MODEL

NT 8694 has copious and exacting history that chronicles its ownership and mechanical records from 1926 until today.

It was built as a LT with a VDP body but during the early 1950's, it was enhanced to 'Speed' specification....Tony Townsend was responsible for these modifications which included the revised VDL body, Sloper carburettors, high compression pistons and amongst other notable things uprated road springs.

The Bentley today is finished in Amaranth, a standard period colour although it started life painted blue. Interesting to note that practically no cars were ever Dark Green when originally built.

The engine in the car carries some significant parts from the #1242 original, but was upgraded to Speed using other components, all correctly stamped parts (#54 & #82). In all other respects the car is matching numbers with the chassis marked in the correct places.

Its been in long term ownership with a retired Bentley Drivers Club Director and fastidiously maintained throughout his tenure by the correct people & specialists.

Having driven it across to our new Redhill premises its defies its near 100 year age, happily charging along with modern traffic, creating a 'stir' as it passes astonished onlookers!
