Description

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at CarFest 2026 on Saturday the 29th of August and Sunday the 30th of August at The Wing, Silverstone Circuit, NN12 8TN.

Introduced by BMW in 1955, the Italian-designed Isetta was produced under license across several countries in the post-war years. Its distinctive egg-shaped body and bubble-like windows gave rise to the term "bubble car."

Built on the South Coast in Brighton, UK-supplied, right-hand drive Isetta 300s of this type featured a single door hinged from the right, with the steering column moved accordingly and a counterweight fitted to compensate for the change in weight distribution. It also has Lucas electrics and Girling brakes in place of the German components used on continental-built cars.

This 1963 example is finished in a cheerful shade of Primrose Yellow and is powered by the model's characteristic 298cc single-cylinder engine, driving through a four-speed manual gearbox.

The vehicle is supplied with an impressive history folder containing numerous invoices totaling £3,840 worth of parts, along with images of the restoration, an Isetta restoration book, and copies of the ‘Isetta Gazzette’ owners newsletter from the mid-2000s.

Acquired by our vendor around two years ago, it has been fitted with a new exhaust and had the brakes stripped, inspected, and rebuilt with new wheel cylinders and brake shoes.
