The 2000 BMW M5 is a legendary model regarded by BMW enthusiasts as on of the best sport sedans ever built. BMW’s “M” series offers an irresistible combination of power, handling and everyday driveability that is distinctive and rare. This four door M5 is a rare bird from a period when BMWs really were the “Ultimate Driving Machines”.
This example is in very good overall condition inside and out. Exterior and paintwork show very well in BMW Carbon Black Metallic. Very low miles at only 43K and a consistent service history from new. Upgrades include BC Racing coil over shocks, Eibach sway bars and a front spoiler lip. Brake system serviced and rotors replaced within last 10k miles. New tires at 38K miles.
This BMW was previously fitted with an ESS Supercharger kit by one of the previous owners. This was later removed and the powertrain was returned to completely stock and the car now passes California smog. Starts, idles and runs great, good compression and oil pressure.
The interior is very comfortable and in excellent shape. Upholstery done in BMW Napa Heritage Leather with accents of burl wood trim. Options include heated power sport seats with lumbar, nav system, on-board computer, cruise control and sunshades.
E39 styling is very trim and aero inspired with subtle badging. A real stealth mobile. Handling is secure, balanced and trustworthy, with strong and smooth brakes ready to take hold when necessary.
With fairly long gearing and a 4,000 lb curb weight the E39 M5 is a cruiser not a sprint car, but it certainly has the moves when asked to dance. The steering is direct and accurate offering the genuine feedback BMW was famous for before it got lost in the electric assist of more recent systems.
A pleasant reminder of the best that BMW was capable of, pretty much as good as it ever got for a classic four door sports car, minus all the gadgets and flashy tech served up these days. A real driver’s car.
A very clean and straight car with plenty of life left. Very well preserved for a 2000 model.
