Chevy hit it out of the park with the Chevelle Super Sport, especially after making a big-block engine standard equipment for 1966. Later, it was an even bigger deal when not one but two versions of the 454 became available for 1970, yet the 396 engine (which was really a 402 for 1970) remained popular. Chevrolet sold around 50,000 examples of the Chevelle SS for 1970, most with the 396/402, and these are often seen in the trademark color combo of Cranberry Red with black stripes or black with white stripes, but this example in code 78 Black Cherry is something a bit unusual, especially with the white interior. It looks great, and pairing a workaday bench seat with a four-on-the-floor shifter is just kinda cool. Nice bonuses on this one: it includes the Protect-O-Plate and a couple photos from the original owner from its earliest days.
