Chevrolet Chevelle BIG BLOCK / 468 Convertible 1972
Finished in a stunning brown metallic with white stripes, complemented by a white convertible top with glass rear window, white SS-style interior and a matching white convertible boot cover.
Equipped with automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, tilt steering wheel, day/ night rear-view mirror, seat belts, original radio, disc brakes, hood pins and alloy wheels with 245/ 45-17 tires at the front and 275/ 40-18 at the rear.
The car was originally built by the factory as a 350, but was later cloned to a 454 SS specification and ran with this engine for many years. The owner subsequently decided to have a new BIG BLOCK LS5 468 cubic-inch engine built, delivering more than enough power. It is a very enjoyable and potent engine that is genuinely quick, yet runs just as smoothly at idle as it does at full throttle – beautiful music to the ears, so to speak!
The 468 Big Block Engine
The engine is built around an LS5 Big Block, using the crankshaft and connecting rods from the same original block, engine number 8999289.
The block was bored 0. 060" over, resulting in 468 cubic inches.
The crankshaft was ground and fitted with new main bearings and fully balanced. The connecting rods were weight-matched together with the pistons to very tight tolerances and fitted with new connecting-rod bearings. The piston rings were carefully gapped to the correct specifications.
A new oil pump, oil pump shaft and oil pickup were installed together with a new Milodon oil pan.
The machining work was carried out by Göran Andersson at Motorrenovering i Linköping AB.
At Gidde Racing, the cylinder heads, lifters, pushrods, rocker arms and guide plates were installed. An Edelbrock Air Gap intake manifold and Edelbrock valve covers were fitted after the valve clearances had been carefully adjusted.
New engine mounts, transmission mount, fuel pump and starter motor were installed, together with new fuel and transmission lines.
All bolts and fasteners used in the engine are ARP.
Considerable money has therefore been invested in this engine and drivetrain.

This is a nice and tidy car throughout, which can best be described as being in very good driver condition and then some. Overall, it presents extremely well and makes a very nice impression.
The price of the car is 550. 000 SEK, which at the time of writing corresponds to approximately 50. 000 Euro.
