In 2021, the car was sold from the Netherlands to Belgium. There, the car underwent a very extensive technical and mechanical overhaul by a specialist; many invoices are available, totaling approximately € 45,000. Among other things, the engine was overhauled during this process. See our extensive photo gallery for maintenance specifications. Since the rebuild, the car has been driven only about 1,000 km. The original 1972 Corvette “Owner’s Manual” is included with the car! The car is custom-built with a widened body using a polyester widebody kit, which, combined with the color, gives the car a unique and very rugged look. Visually, the car can be further enhanced. The original color of this car is “War Bonnet Yellow” (color code 989). Depending on personal taste, the car can therefore also be restored to this original, beautiful, and sought-after shade of yellow. The 1972 model year (with chrome bumpers) is highly collectible.EXTERIORA unique and eye-catching appearance: this is mainly due to the wide body kit installed on this Corvette, combined with the turquoise color. These modifications were carried out in the United States. A hardtop in the same color is included. The car also comes with a white soft top that is in good condition. The body kit gives the car a completely different look from front to back, accentuating the model’s beautiful lines. The body kit is in working order and has been recently updated, but for a perfect exterior, the car needs to be repainted. The year 1972 was the model year in which the attractive chrome bumpers were introduced, which the car still has. The car also comes with a hardtop in the same color. The “American Racing” turbine rims are spectacular and fitted with “General Grabber HP” tires featuring white lettering. The brake calipers are painted red. INTERIORThe interior is largely original and shows normal signs of wear. The interior trim code is 417, which stands for “Saddle Vinyl.” Naturally, the upholstery is finished in vinyl leather. The brown interior features large gauges for the driver that are deeply recessed into the dashboard. The center console features 5 additional gauges. Furthermore, the interior is relatively luxuriously equipped, including heating and a radio. It also features the ingenious “Astro Ventilation” system. This consists of vents at the front of the cab and vents at the rear, just behind the rear window. As a result, air flows from under the hood, through the cabin, and exits the cabin again through the rear vents.TECHNICALBeneath this unique body lies a thoroughly refurbished car: significant investments have been made in everything from the chassis to the braking system. For detailed specifications, see our photo report. In addition, the wheel bearings, brake calipers, shock absorbers (Bilstein), fuel tank, and clutch have been replaced. The brakes are equipped with ventilated brake rotors. The engine has been completely overhauled, with the block removed from the car. Among Corvette enthusiasts, this is the holy grail of engines: the LT-1 “Small-block” 5.7-liter “350 Turbo-Fire” V8 engine. Originally supplied for the Corvette C3, this engine is a technical masterpiece: a high-compression small-block with solid lifters, a forged crankshaft, a 4-bolt main block, an aggressive camshaft, and a free-flowing exhaust system. With approximately 360 pk, this engine delivers impressive performance and a characterful, raw V8 experience. The radiator is made of aluminum. The exhaust system, featuring a “spaghetti” manifold, was custom-built by Inox and produces an unforgettable sound. This engine is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. A nice feature the Corvette offers is power steering. Both the undercarriage and the engine bay look excellent. This Corvette is therefore ready to drive for its next owner.GENERALThe early ’70s Corvette Stingray represents the absolute pinnacle of classic American sports cars. With its muscular lines, integrated fender flares, and iconic chrome bumpers (through 1972), this generation combines timeless design with uncompromising performance. Under the hood, Chevrolet offered an impressive range of engines, highlighted by the legendary LT1. With an output of approximately 360 pk and race-inspired technology, the Stingray held its own against renowned European sports cars— but with an unmistakably American character. It’s no surprise that Motor Trend recorded a quarter-mile time of 14.36 seconds in 1970—performance that rivaled top-tier European sports cars at the time. The interior was refined with better-shaped seats and luxury options such as wood trim, high-quality carpeting, and leather upholstery. These model years also mark the end of an era: the last Corvettes with full chrome bumpers, high-compression engines, and the unfiltered V8 experience before stricter emissions regulations took effect. Rare configurations and options make this Stingray highly sought after by collectors today.1972 Chevrolet Corvette C3 Stingray Convertible LT-1 - Custom Wide Body- Rare 5.7-liter LT-1 V8 engine with approx. 360 hp- Manual transmission- Unique “Custom-made” with a rare polyester wide-body kit from Daytona Greenwood- Extensively overhauled with approximately €45,000 in investment costs- Original 1972 Owner’s Manual included- Hardtop and soft topHISTORY/DOCUMENTATIONThis Chevrolet Corvette C3 was registered in the United States on September 15, 1972.
