You have to be very versed in the Jaguar and Daimler models of the 1960s to tell them apart right away. In quick summary, you can say that it started with the Mk2 and it was succeeded by the S-type. Since the S-type did not immediately catch on as hoped, Jaguar decided to come up with the 420. Daimler naturally followed suit with their equivalent of the 420, the Sovereign.Jaguar's S-type appeared in the mid-1960s. With a modified rear end for more trunk space, a different roofline for more passenger headroom, and a slightly modified front end, the car should last a while. Things don't go as well as hoped in England and the decision is made to add an additional model to the lineup, the 420. With, you guessed it, a 4.2-liter six-cylinder. The 420 is immediately distinguishable from the aforementioned models by its modified front end. And Daimler? They, of course, made it their own variant, the luxuriously equipped Sovereign. And that is the model you see here in the pictures.This Sovereign looks to pass through the proverbial ring and that is not surprising. The Daimler was completely restored from head to toe and from front to rear bumper by a brand specialist. Not only a picture to see so but also technically in a condition where simply nothing to complain about.The body stunning by tight seams and beautiful paintwork. In a car with such tight flanks, the slightest blemishes but not in this stylish green painted Sovereign. The expertly restored bodywork is complemented by exceptionally neat chrome work. The distinctive nose, designed slightly forward leaning is stately and stylish at the same time, with the ribbed Daimler grille finishing it off in terms of styling.A violently contrasting interior? No, of course not! As befits a stylish Englishman, dark green leather has been chosen to perfectly match the exterior. In addition, it colors formidably with the wooden parts of the dashboard. The interior was also completely "done" during the restoration, retaining originality and preserving parts that contribute to the wonderful original atmosphere that prevails. The leather has been lightly used and sits superbly.And then perhaps the finest thing about a 420: the driving. The silky smooth six-cylinder provides incredible driving pleasure, and with the comfortable suspension, "sumptuous" is the first word that comes to mind when describing the driving characteristics. The Daimler feels luxurious, rich, a joy to be around. Yet a Daimler Sovereign is not just comfortable; steering the English saloon is also very pleasant. The Sovereign, like an Mk2 and an S-type is a very enjoyable car to be on the road with and this beautiful example is a good example of that.
