Description

Trade-in carThe Daimler Sovereign, externally distinguishable from its Jaguar counterpart only by the traditional radiator grille and other emblems, appeared a year after the XJ6 was launched. In fact, it was an absolutely top-of-the-line model, with most extras included as standard. Launched to great acclaim in 1968, the XJ6 refined the concepts that earlier Jaguar sedans already had, creating a car that could compete with the very best Mercedes-Benz had to offer at the time. The Daimler Sovereign Coupe is the shorter wheelbase, two-door version of the full-size Sovereign sedan. What was the car intended for? It is an automobile that was designed for the discerning motorist who wanted something that looked as good as it drove. This resulted in a very stylish car with a fantastic package of luxury, performance and form. The performance of the 4.2-liter six-cylinder inline engine is also generous, with a top speed of more than 190 kilometers per hour. With a refined, fully independent suspension, this Daimler has excellent handling and is surprisingly agile for such a large and luxurious car. It is also just as comfortable as the sedan on which it is based and drives even better than the more sporty E-Type that preceded it. By the way, we have both models in our collection! In short, the Daimler Sovereign Coupe is truly a car for all seasons, easily fulfilling a variety of roles, from weekend racer to bridal limousine to weekly errand runner. The high cost of bringing the two-door body to US safety regulations meant that the Coupe version was never sold in the US. As a result, the model is one of the rarest of the XJ family, produced between 1975 and 1977. Of only 1,698 Daimler Sovereign 4.2-liter Coupés built, only 112 left the factory with left-hand drive and 4.2-liter engine. An absolute rarity! This original left-hand drive model drives well and has a beautiful color scheme in dark blue with a cookie leather interior. This configuration is very rare and sought after. The car has developed the necessary patina over the years. The interior is really beautiful and very nice due to the patina, the carpets are still very clean, the dashboard is pretty nice and the headliner is in used condition. The exterior has the necessary spots on the paint and therefore needs attention for those who want a Daimler in top condition. With a very good base, this is a Daimler with excellent potential for a Sovereign coupé in concours condition. With only 112 examples, this car is incredibly rare and an ultimate collector's item. There are several invoices of recent maintenance on this Daimler in the documentation, as well as various beautiful imagery. This is truly a unique opportunity to own a highly sought after Daimler of which only 112 were built.
