Description

When Sir Williams Lyon (one of the two founders of Jaguar Cars) designed the XJ series in the 1960s, the desire quickly arose to also market a Coupe version of the XJ. It was not until the mid-1970s, when the second series of XJ arrived, that the public could become acquainted with the XJC. In 1969 Lyons had taken a rejected sedan off the band and personally converted it into a coupe version, with the special feature that it lacked the B-pillar. The XJC was marketed as a sportier version of the XJ. The XJC is now regarded as one of the most beautiful and stylish Jaguar/Daimler models. In the end, about 8000 Jaguar Coupes were built (4.2 and 5.3ltr) and only 2100 more luxurious Daimler versions, of which only 1677 units with 4.2ltr engine, nowadays the production of the VW Golf in one day. The XJC, certainly silky smooth for that time, is still an extremely comfortable limousine that, especially in the smooth-shifting automatic version, is even suitable for daily use. The example offered here was extensively restored five years ago. The bodywork was completely stripped and repainted in sleek and stylish lacquer black. The car has an Italian origin, so there was no rust damage. All rubbers were renewed, the chrome was renewed where necessary and the interior was newly upholstered in a beautiful contrasting color. See the beautiful result in the photos. The car was used after the restoration, however, remained completely undamaged. The bumpers are also completely free of signs of wear. The technology was renewed or overhauled where necessary, as a result the car drives smoothly and, if desired, even fast. Daily use may be unwise given the sensitivity to rust in our climate, technically you don't have to worry. At a detailed level, it is of course an older English car. You can hardly move more stylishly to a nice party or dinner. This rare Daimler is equipped with electric windows, air conditioning and a modern radio with Blu Tooth. Roadworthy at no additional cost in our showroom.
