Created to compete directly with established European sports cars, the 240Z was priced originally within $200 of the British MGB-GT in the United States, offering a straight-six for the price of a seven-year-old four-cylinder that was showing its age. The 240Z broadened the acceptance of Japanese car-makers beyond their economic image while the styling, engineering, relatively low price, and impressive performance resonated with the public. Now over 50 years later they are very sought after vehicles.

Under the hood rests the L24, 2.4-Liter straight 6-cylinder SOHC engine with a manual choke that's mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Power is rated at 151hp at 5,600rpm and 146lb/ft at 4,400 rpm thanks to the mechanical fuel pump that feeds the twin SU-type carburetors. Power front disc brakes and rear drums keep your speed in check.

The Gold exterior attracts the eye while the centered black stripe gives a nice break. "Datsun" badging on the front fenders and the iconic "Z" rests on the sail pillar. Konig 8-spoke wheels with a brushed lip add to the ground appearance and are wrapped by radial tires.

The interior is in overall good condition with the brown and black creating a nice two-tone. Temperature, oil pressure, voltage, fuel, and a Jeco clock sit centered in the dash while your tachometer and speedometer sit in front of the driver.

In 2004, Sports Car International named the Datsun 240Z number two on their list of Top Sports Cars of the 1970's in the ranks of Ferrari's and Lamborghini's. Reason being? They're damn good cars for the money!
