DeLorean DMC-12 - October 1981 - Automatic Unique and new 16/17" wheels recently fitted. The chassis has been recently replaced. Over €25,000 has been invested in the car recently. Equipped with air conditioning. German-registered; invoices available. HISTORY/DOCUMENTATION In our opinion, this is the most beautiful DeLorean we know. It has recently been fitted with brand-new 16/17" alloy wheels that look perfect on the car. This example embodies the vision John DeLorean had for his ultimate supercar. The original wheels are 2 inches smaller. The DeLorean brand produced cars from January 1981 to mid-1983. This example, with chassis number ending in #4761, was built in October 1981, making it an early model. The car is currently registered with a German license plate but can be registered in another country. In recent years, approximately €26,000 has been invested to bring the car to top condition. The chassis has been renewed, and it has undergone a thorough technical overhaul. It is fully ready to drive. Included with the car: - Maintenance documentation - Registration papers - Tool kit - Spare tire - Two keys - General DeLorean history EXTERIOR The exterior is in very good and original condition. The stainless steel body is rust-free. The plastic front and rear bumpers are in good condition. Other plastic components and lighting are also well maintained. The windshield is original. Overall, a stunning example. INTERIOR The interior is also in very good and original condition. The light gray leather upholstery is free of tears. The fabric trim, dashboard, and headliner are in good condition. A modern Pioneer radio has been installed. The front trunk is in good condition and houses the spare tire. TECHNICAL The chassis has been renewed, and the undercarriage appears like new (see extensive photo report, including undercarriage photos). A detailed invoice from 2026 shows no expense was spared to restore the car to top technical condition. The rims and tires are brand new (manufactured in 2025). The car is completely ready to drive. GENERAL DeLorean is world-famous thanks to the 1985 film "Back to the Future," where it serves as a time machine. Many books and series have been produced about John DeLorean, the flamboyant owner of the brand, and the origins of the DMC-12. John DeLorean was a successful engineer and businessman, who rose to vice president at General Motors, the world's largest automaker. He left GM in 1973 to pursue his dream of building a unique, affordable sports car that would be ahead of its time. The design was created by the Italian firm Giugiaro, with engineering by Colin Chaplin, founder of Lotus. The car features a wide, low, futuristic body made of stainless steel, gull-wing doors, and a mid-mounted engine. It is powered by a 2.8-liter 6-cylinder aluminum engine sourced from Renault/Peugeot/Volvo. The DMC-12 was aimed at the American market, with a planned production rate of 30,000 units per year at a price of $12,000. Production was ultimately set up in Northern Ireland, with the help of the British government, in a region then plagued by high unemployment and conflict.
