1979 Ferrari Sbarro 250 Testarossa
After being team manager of the famous Scuderia Filipinetti where he developed and maintained the race cars of the team (AC Cobra, Ferrari P3 and Ford GT40) Franco Sbarro created a small Swiss high-performance car company in 1971.
Among his many exclusive creations ( http://sbarro.phcalvet.fr/indexgb.html ) comes this barquetta.
In the tradition of famous rebodied cars in the 60’s by Fantuzzi, Drogo and Zagato to name a few, Franco Sbarro has done the same in the mid 2000’s taking some Ferrari 365GT 2+2 and Ferrari 400 and rebodying 7 cars with a Ferrari 250 Testarossa body.
He named them “Mille Miglia”.
This one was sold new to a German customer at the Geneva auto show in 2006. He was a race driver who wanted something comfortable with power steering so that he’s wife could drive too, but at the same time he wanted a lightweight car that could do some track days.
It is based on a 1979 Ferrari 400.
Sbarro Replaced the entire body by a very high-quality composite body, while keeping the 340hp 4.8l V12 Ferrari engine as well as suspensions, brakes, 5 speed manual gearbox and power steering.
