Ferrari created an absolute sensation in Paris at the 1984 Paris Motor Show with the Testarossa. With enormous interest around the Ferrari booth, the public stood to look at Ferrari's very latest model. In our opinion, Lamborghini set the supercar trend in the 1960s with the Miura. But in the 1980s, many will agree with us that, in addition to some legendary Lamborghini’s, Ferrari almost redefined the supercar with the Testarossa. It was also no surprise that the model was a success for the Italian marque. What fantastic lines! The Testarossa broadly featured three versions, the last of which appeared in 1991. The very first Testarossa’s featured only ééone exterior mirror. We therefore call these ‘Monospecchio’. But we go back to 1991 for a moment. Ferrari changed the name to the 512 TR, hinting at the fantastic 5 liter twelve-cylinder engine. In four years of production, only 2,261 examples of the 512 TR were built, and this third series presented itself as a great evolution of the Testarossa, with both improved performance and even better handling, all presented in a more modern package that was totally up to date. For this third version, Ferrari's engineers did their best to increase engine power. They achieved this by increasing the compression ratio, installing larger valves and applying numerous other things, including modified camshafts. In all, the 512 TR in European specification produced a whopping 428 hp.The rear subframe consisted of ééone piece and allowed the engine to be mounted lower in the chassis. This significantly improved weight distribution, while the modified suspension contributed to an improvement in road holding. Ferrari also modified the bodywork on the 512 TR. The Testarossa had angular edges here and there that disappeared with the third version. We also see hints of the Ferrari 348. All in all, a 512 TR presents itself as a modern Ferrari of the 1990s with obvious features of the iconic Testarossa of the 1980s. The best of both? The choice is yours. The 512 TR at Gallery Aaldering was delivered on April 19, 1993 by the well-known Ferrari dealer Crepaldi Auto Milan in the classic color combination Rosso Corsa with black leather upholstery. This is therefore a European car. This is a fully documented example. Important to mention is that all original Ferrari booklets are present, including the original leather folder and that extensive maintenance was recently performed at a Dutch Ferrari specialist, where the timing belt was replaced, along with the fuel pump and a service. Several pictures’s of this maintenance are present. With only 58,000 kilometers, this Ferrari does not have much experience and maintenance always took place at official Ferrari dealers. For example, the first owner had the first maintenance performed at 9,000 km at Ferrari Ch. Pozzi in Paris. In addition to the official and stamped maintenance booklet, there are also several invoices of work over the years present. In total, this Ferrari had only three owners. The first owner owned the 512 TR until 2005 and the third owner got this beautiful Ferrari in 2015. For the last ten years this Ferrari was in a privécollection where the car was taken excellent care of as well. The paint of this Ferrari is in superb condition and very original. With almost immaculate windows, a very clean bodywork and beautiful paint, the whole thing looks fantastic. The alloy rims are also beautiful and have tires in the correct size, which only enhances the authentic look of this example. On the underside, the Ferrari also looks neat. The interior offers a delightful combination of influences from the 80s and 90s. The black leather upholstery is virtually immaculate considering its age and is therefore in very good condition. Every detail, from the upholstery to the instrument panel, the center console, the beautiful steering wheel, everything is in very good condition and makes a beautiful impression. The sleek design of the dashboard and the typical orange-red counters immediately take you back to another era. The characteristic black ‘shift ball’ and the long steel shift rod, which disappears into the typical Ferrari shift pattern, complete the driving experience. This 512 TR shows almost no wear that you would normally expect after more than 30 years. With only 1 out of 2261 built, it is rightfully a rarity. In this condition we like to see them come by more often. Are you interested in this fantastic Ferrari 512 TR? Please contact us today. We will be happy to assist you.
