Description

See for information in English down belowFiat 124 Sport Spider CS1 1975- Originating from the sunny climate of the United States- 1.8-liter engine with 5-speed gearbox- Newly painted paintwork- Strikingly finished in yellow with matte black accents- Refurbished interior- New CSI electric ignitionHISTORY/DOCUMENTATIONDid you know that the design of the 124 Sport Spider has Dutch roots? This has everything to do with the well-known Dutch designer Tom Tjaarda, who was employed by Pininfarina at the time. The design is based on Tjaarda's earlier design for the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, which was ultimately not produced because of too many European influences. Fiat showed wél interest in this design and in this way it formed the basis for the Sport Spider, which was introduced six months after the popular four-door Fiat 124 (in 1967). Over the years, the exterior was changed slightly and the engines were enlarged. This eventually led to the type CS1, which featured a 1.8-liter engine and was delivered only in the United States. The example offered by us was produced in 1974 (but of the 1975 model year) and was later imported from the favorable climate of the US to the Netherlands. Since 2022 the car is registered on Belgian license plates. An extensive instruction book and workshop manual are present with the car.EXTERIORThe beautiful design is as beautiful and timeless as ever. Characteristic of this type are the bumps on the hood. On the side flaunts the emblem of Pininfarina. The beautiful striking yellow color "Giallo Pagoda" (repainted paint job) contrasts beautifully with the matte black hood and trunk and gives the car a sporty look reminiscent of the Abarth version. The lack of the front bumper also contributes to this. The paintwork is in nice condition. The car features alloy wheels. The black sotftop is free of cracks and also still in good condition. The lines of the car are nice and we have not found any rust on the car.INTERIORThe interior has been renewed and is therefore in a clean condition. The bucket seats and rear seats are half leather and half cloth upholstery. A nice option is the 2-spoke wooden steering wheel. On the wooden dashboard there is a comprehensive instrument panel with various gauges such as oil pressure, temperature gauge, voltmeter and a tachometer. The interior also features heating and a radio cassette player. TECHNICAL The engine compartment looks dry and houses the 1,756 cc 4-cylinder engine, which is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. The tires all around still have plenty of tread. The car has new CSI electric ignition and recently new spark plugs and a new battery were installed. In addition, a maintenance service with fresh oil was performed. Especially thanks to the light weight of 960 kg and rear-wheel drive it is a pleasure to drive the Spider. The car drives and shifts well.ALGEMENTThe Fiat Sport Spider 124 is a convertible that was produced by the Italian car manufacturer Fiat from 1966 to 1985. It was ééone of the most popular sports cars of its time and was praised for its good performance, comfortable handling and attractive appearance. The car was initially powered by a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produced 89 horsepower. The car continued to be developed and fitted with larger engines, until finally a 2.0-liter engine. In 1985, production of the Spider 124 was discontinued.
