Description

- One of the best Giardiniera’s available anywhere today
- Finished in wonderful Azzuro Acquamarine 433 over a Light Beige upholstery
- Benefitting from a total restoration with a great eye for detail
- The most useable variant of the fabled 500 with sought-after suicide-doors
- Ready for tasteful Spring and Summer motoring

The Giardiniera:

The simplicity of the Fiat 500 underpinnings, wrapped in a slightly larger and more usable estate body style - that was the general idea for the Fiat 500 Giardiniera. Underpinnings that were very similar to the "conventional" Fiat 500 D with the same 499 cc engine, only now rotated 90 degrees so that a flat loading space became a reality. This made it eminently more usable for the somewhat larger Italian families as well as for commercial use.

All Giardiniera's benefit from the sought-after “suicide doors”, in contrary to the mainstream variants that Fiat offered at the time with regular front-hinged doors. Another signature feature of the Giardiniera is the sunroof, running nearly the entire length of the roof to give a proper panoramic experience. Just two examples of the many quirky features that make the Giardiniera's such a desirable offering and actually useable during Spring and Summertime. Bringing the children to school or doing groceries has never been more fun!

This 500 Giardiniera:

The car on offer here, chassis no. 297022, was first registered in 1973 in Italy. Today this Giardiniera presents in exceptional condition throughout thanks to a full restoration some years ago in both aesthetical and technical terms. The spec is as good as it gets, Azzuro Acquamarine 433 (arguably the best colour on any classic Fiat 500) over a light Beige hide. The Fiat is suited with engine number 0430453, believed the original engine from new.
It is evident the restoration exceeds most standards on Fiat 500’s, a lovely consistent paint finish, correct and original spotwelds in the various places as well as great and coherent shutlines throughout. Fixings, chrome work, rubbers and seals – everything is totally correct. The Fiat has received an anti-rust coating on the underside as well as anti-rust proofing in the various apertures to give it the best fighting chance against the elements for years to come.

Technically the car is as sound as it looks, greatly pulling engine (in equally restored condition), smooth gearbox with all ancillaries working as they should without exception. The car benefits from a pair of new Cinturato tires, so absolutely nothing needs doing by its next custodian before taking it on the road. It comes complete with its original jack, spare wheel and document folder. As with all our motorcars, this Fiat can be delivered with a Dutch registration and in this case with historic license plates.

Bite-Size:

Certainly one of the best and most complete examples of its kind available anywhere. Simply put if you’re on the hunt for a great Giardiniera you cannot exclude this car from your wishlist.
