Description

Downs Manufacturing was known for their high quality fiberglass car bodies. The 1933 Ford 3 Window Coupe has proven to be one of their most sought after models as it was made famous back in the 80’s by ZZ Top. This particular example is equipped with a chopped top, suicide doors, a center lift steel hood, steel side panels and a steel trunk. It was started a few years ago but was finally finished in 2020. The heart of this beauty is a fuel injected LT-1 Corvette engine and a 4L60E transmission from a 1995 Corvette. The car the drive line was removed from had just over 12k miles and both the engine and the tranny were gone through from top to bottom before being installed in this street rod which currently has 923 miles on it. The engine received all new seals and gaskets and the tranny received a new 2800 stall converter and torque converter. At the same time it was fit with a freshly rebuilt Ford 9” posi rear end with a 3.5 gear. The frame has been boxed with supports. It has an independent front suspension, a four link rear suspension with tubular control arms and chrome coil over adjustable gas shocks on both ends. It has new custom red & black leather interior from Brent’s upholstery with seats from a Z06 corvette. It has a complete set of Stewart Warner gauges, a headliner mounted BT stereo with Kenwood speakers, power windows, a power open and close trunk, door poppers with remote, emergency door releases as well as a sweet V8 Banjo steering wheel. The exterior looks amazing with its billet grill, chrome accessories and staggered Torque Thrust D polished rims with 215/60R15 front tires and massive 235/55R17 rear tires. Not only does it look incredible but it sounds just plain nasty ripping through its dual aluminum performance exhaust. All said and done over 70K has been invested to bring this Street Rod to life. We are ready to find a new home for her and have priced it accordingly so if you like what you see we encourage you to contact us before it is too late!
