This originally-San-Jose-built & California DSO black-plate Hi-Po K-code Mustang was restored by a gentleman in Spokane that was very well known for high end award winning restorations on rare Mustangs, his name is Ken Digginstein.
This K code was restored to compete in concourse trailered MCA events and was used as a show piece in a new car dealers high end collection. After the current owner/seller purchased the car he had the car completely gone thru and sorted it out for sensible use only to keep it in stellar condition for any level of car shows considered.
It is ready for any Mustang event including concourse shows. Recent mechanical work includes a fresh original long block overhaul on the original matching-numbers engine, complete transmission overhaul, all brakes and seals, etc.
Everything works on this car and it has no more than 300 miles since this work was all completed. The car is totally sound and can be driven with confidence or shown in an concourse event, itâs truly that nice.
This is without a doubt one of the nicest K Code Mustang fastbacks in existence today.

Well Appointed Mustang fastback
The Model: Even after Ford had made big news with the new Mustang, they had one more card up their sleeve in the way of a 2+2 fastback model. This was the car that Carroll Shelby would favor for the GT350 project, and all his cars were ordered with the proven high performance âKÂ-Codeâ, 271Âhorse, 289 V8. With the Mustang already keeping three of Fordâs assembly plants working around the clock to meet demand, all this new model did was add to the excitement. A total of 77,079 2+2 fastbacks were produced during the 1965 model year and today they are one of the most sought after models. Of course the KÂ-Code V8 is also a hot commodity fitted with a special Autolite fourÂ-barrel carburetor from the factory, solid valve lifters, and 10.5:1 compression ratio, there were the best bang for the buck small blocks Ford ever built.
The Car: This 2+2 was built at the home of the Shelby Mustang, the famous San Jose, California plant. For 1965, Mustang offered an exclusive color for their new sports car, Caspian Blue, which is the color this Hi-Po fastback is finished in. Riding on a set of factory accessory Style steel wheels & red line tires. Inside the car black vinyl seats cradle the driver and passenger with a fold- down rear seat. Mounted to the steering column is the Rally Pack, meant only for drivers who knew how fast these cars could go. The center console with polished trim features the four-speed shifter. Under the hood features a factory chrome dress up kit for the Hi-Po V8, plus a authentically detailed engine compartment. Simply put, this is the ultimate K-Code Mustang for 1965.
A VERY sought after Vintage Mustang, coming from the introductory year of the famed Pony car. The âKâ in the VIN designates âFactory High Performanceâ model, which accounts for less than 1% of the Mustang production from 1965 to 1967. A true K-code factory high-performance model, this 1965 Mustang was the recipient of a full, correct rotisserie restoration. Itâs powered by a K-code 289/271hp engine mated to a Toploader 4-speed manual transmission and a 9â rear end with 3:50 gears. It is finished in its original Caspian Blue exterior with black interior. It also has the correct steering-column-mounted Rally Pak with the 8,000 rpm tachometer. Get in, hang on & go!
