Ford Mustang Convertible 1966 for saleI think nobody could have anticipated how big of a success the Mustang would become when it was launched back in April 1964. And after the first two years of production, there were one million Mustang owners in America. Lee Iacocca had an idea of building a light two-door sports car, still with room for four people, and it had to be cheap. As we all know, it was a great concept that has been widely copied since.Interior: It has a completely new Pony interior in the factory color. An extra feature is the cupholder armrest console, which is easy to lift out. The soft top is easy to open and close and has a convertible cover to give a clean look when it is down. The trunk area is clean and includes the original tartan wax tablecloth these cars used at the time. If you are looking for a classic four-seater convertible, this is a great option.Exterior: From 1964 until 1966, the Ford Mustang Convertible remained in the same shape with very minor changes. What immediately hits you when you see this car is the color. The original name is “Tahoe Turquoise” with “Aqua” trim inside. Today, the Mustang is rolling on 15x7 Magnum wheels. This California Mustang Convertible underwent a full restoration between 2015 and 2017 and is still today in absolutely stunning condition. All rubber and chrome details on the car are new. The electric soft top goes down in a few seconds when the sun comes out.Engine & mechanics: The Mustang Convertible’s 289 engine underwent a complete rebuild and has only been driven about 2,000 km since. Fully rebuilt engine Brand new electrical wiring and numerous new electrical components Rebuilt gearbox and final drive Mechanically, this 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible is as sound as it gets. The 289 V8 produces an incredible sound that adds to the driving experience.History: I feel like this is a short description for this Mustang. But turning the key on this car today must be very close to the feeling that the first owner in California had back in 1966. The car has been nut-and-bolt restored to stunning condition. And I think the choice of colors by the first owner could not have been better. The car started its life in sunny California, so there was hardly any rust before the restoration. The first owners in the USA took very good care of this car and saved pretty much every invoice for the work that had been done to it over the years. The owner in the USA was a devoted member of the Mustang Club, and documentation like this is rare to find with classic cars today. But it is a true sign that somebody truly cared for this car over the years. The 1966 Mustang came to Sweden in 2002. The present owner bought the car in 2015 after a full restoration by the company Autotec in Sweden. The car has now been driven about 2,000 km since the restoration and still has that new car feeling. If you live in Sweden and would like to sell your classic American car, please let us know here.
