Description

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at Supercar Fest 2026 on Saturday, May 16th, at Sywell Aerodrome, Sywell, Northampton, NN6 0BN.

The Ford Shelby GT350 Fastback is one of the most distinctive and desirable iterations of the Shelby Mustang lineage, combining purposeful styling with proven V8 performance. Built in Dearborn, Michigan, the 1969 model year marked an evolution of the Shelby concept, with revised styling, increased comfort, and strong performance credentials. It remains one of the most recognizable American muscle cars of the era.

Powered by the optional 351ci (5.8-litre) 4-valve V8 producing 290bhp, the GT350 offers a compelling balance of usability and performance. This specification delivers the characteristic torque and drivability expected of a Shelby, making it suitable for both road use and collection. Production was limited, with just 953 GT350 Fastbacks built in 1969, highlighting its rarity today.

This particular example is finished in the highly desirable Gulfstream Aqua with black vinyl high-back seats. Factory specification is confirmed by its trim plate (code F5 with trim 3AA). Of the total production, only 217 cars were finished in Gulfstream Aqua, adding to its appeal and individuality. Additional codes confirm axle and transmission specifications, supporting the car’s authenticity and original configuration.

Delivered new to Belgium by Claude Dubois, this GT350 has had just three owners from new and benefits from a remarkable level of provenance. It comes with a comprehensive history file, including its original bill of sale, providing a clear record of ownership from new to the present day.

The car is described as unrestored and presents as a true survivor, retaining its original body panels and overall integrity. It is understood that the car has never been raced, further supporting its preservation and originality. Such examples are increasingly rare, especially those with documented history and limited ownership.

Now offered from a prominent UK-based collector, this car represents an opportunity to acquire a well-preserved and highly original Shelby GT350 in a particularly desirable specification. Its low production numbers, rare color scheme, documented provenance, and originality make it one of the more collectible examples of the model.

Presented as a genuine and original example of one of Ford’s most iconic performance cars, this 1969 Shelby GT350 Fastback offers both historical significance and enduring appeal. It is suitable for continued preservation, display, or sympathetic use.
