motodrome offer this utterly charming 1949 Ford Prefect E493A, finished in Green with original brown leather.

From a gentler age of motoring, these cars are totally simple, and run the ubiquitous 1173cc Ford sidevalve engine, married to a 3-speed manual gearbox

This one is an original UK car and retains it’s original non-suffix registration number, which it was reunited with in 1979 following many years off the road.

Odometer reading 69900 miles – whilst we can’t warrant this, it’s quite possibly correct, given the interior condition. The leather trim was a £7.00 option when new in 1949, and is lovely.

Fitted with discreet indicators in place of the original semaphore trafficators, and front driving lights which work

It seems to have been off the road for years before undergoing a comprehensive restoration 2008 to 2009, (we have photos of this) and is now nicely ‘settled in’ in terms of it’s patina.

Over 15 years on from it’s restoration it still presents beautifully, sits right, and has excellent panel gaps, chrome etc.

We have a file of history back to the mid-1990’s, and the car is well known to, and registered with, the Ford Sidevalve Owners Club.

It’s obviously not a performance Ford, but it does trundle down the road very happily, and certainly puts a smile on my face.
