Introduced in 1986, the Sierra RS Cosworth 3-door was developed by Ford as a homologation special for Group A touring car competition. Only 5,545 examples were produced between 1986 and 1987.
Presented in Moonstone Blue with grey cloth upholstery, this example remains well presented throughout. It has had just four keepers from new and has an indicated 65,858 miles.
Powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre Cosworth YB engine driving through a five-speed manual gearbox, this car has been uprated to Phase 1 specification and now produces around 270bhp.
Additional upgrades include Samco silicone hoses, a stainless steel exhaust system, a strut brace, and Koni suspension fitted all round in 1997. The locks were replaced in 2010 following an attempted theft.
The car has been in the care of its most recent owner for the last 27 years. The vendor grades the engine, gearbox, bodywork, paintwork, and interior condition as good and confirms the car is HPI clear.
Offered with a comprehensive history file and a full year’s MOT, this well-maintained 3-door Cosworth presents an appealing opportunity to acquire one of Ford’s most renowned performance models.
