This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, Supercar Fest Sale of Iconic and Classic Cars 2024 on Saturday the 18th of May, Sywell Aerodrome, Sywell, Northampton, NN6 0BN. When Ford set out to create the Transit Van, never could they have known that low mileage examples with good history and in superb condition could be selling around 50 years later for almost thirty to forty times as much as they were new. Celebrated examples have sold for in excess of £60,000 in recent history, and this particular example may just be about to achieve something similar.
Found nestled in the rear of a garage, this particular Transit was found by TV's own Mike Brewer some years ago. It had been acquired as an ex-German Fire Service truck, having been rolled out of its garage occasionally, cleaned regularly and having attended a few events as would likely have been the case for a non-service vehicle within the Feuerwehr. The fire department in Germany being a mostly volunteer based service operated in local areas, and so one could assume that many of the vans would not necessarily be operated or used very often.
