Description

1965 GMC Series 1000 half-ton pickup DGT965A VIN 1001PF31965A Street rod that was built from the frame up approximately 10 years ago and has been with the owner since 2014. Power comes from a Supercharged 454ci big-block Chevrolet V8 topped with a chrome Roots blower and 4-barrel carburetor. Turbo 350 3-speed automatic transmission and modifications include a custom front and rear end, battery relocation. Refurbished interior. Equipment includes an AM/FM/CD stereo. Heat and air conditioning, an anti-theft battery shutoff switch, and more. Finished in yellow with chrome accents and hardware, the truck has been fitted with a Stepside bed sourced from a 1990's era model. The bed has been retrofitted with wooden slats and stainless hardware, and a set of square dual exhaust tips protrude from the rear. Power steering and power brakes are equipped to handle a set of black-wall tires over aftermarket 6-spoke aluminum wheels. We did find rust bubbles on one door and crack in the paint on the left rear of the cab. A couple paint chips otherwise the paint is very nice. The suspension sits lower than it came from the factory after being updated with a Camaro front end and Chevrolet Nova parts in the rear. I like the looks of it. The interior is trimmed throughout in gray and black, with cloth upholstery over the split bench, a built-in center console, a black vinyl dash and door panels, and black carpeting. Equipment includes manually cranked windows, Instrumentation can be found behind the aftermarket 3-spoke steering wheel and consists of a complete Stewart Warner gauge set including a 160-mph speedometer, tachometer, and additional dials for fuel level, battery voltage, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The odometer is reported to show 6,970 miles, which is reported to be the mileage driven since completion of the build. The engine bay is finished in body-matching yellow. A photo collage of the build process along with a catalog of parts used will be included.
