Description

Seen here is a fully documented, three owner, 1953 International Travelall R-110 that shows only 35,500 actual miles from new! This time capsule is likely the only Travelall in existence you will find in such fantastic, ready to drive, condition. For any enthusiasts in the market looking for a classic car made for traveling with the family, this is truly a remarkable find!

History of the International Travelall R-110:
The International Harvester Company of Chicago was well known for offering one of the best lightweight truck lineups to the working class in the 1950s. From being a trusted piece of farm equipment to bustling city use, highway cruising, and even off-road fun, the International Harvester was thought to be the ultimate vehicle by catering to any and all of the buyer's needs. Of the 168 models produced, one of the most popular was the R-110 Travelall, which competed directly with the GMC Suburban. This particular model featured three rows of seats which sat up to eight passengers! Because the rear seats were easily removable, it also provided nearly 90 inches of floor space, which was also 5 feet wide, making this classic the perfect contender for the working class. This versatility gave owners a great amount of freedom, especially due to the liftgate rear window and fold-down tailgate. As with many work trucks, most met their fate from years of hard use, excessive outdoor storage, and tireless miles on the engines, which would make this well kept classic a rare find!

Details about this International Travelall R-110 for sale:
This International classic survives remarkably and displays beautiful original touches that one really has to view in person to fully admire! Selling new to Bremerton, Washington resident, Albert T., on August 25th, 1953, it was intended to be used for family hunting and camping trips to Yosemite, Yellowstone and many other locations that were perfect for bonding with the loved ones. Sadly, the original owner was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, leaving the truck to go into dry storage after he was no longer able to drive it. Due to the many fantastic memories created over the years, the family held on "Old Faithful", as Albert likes to call it, long after his passing.

Being consistently detailed and protected over the years, this Travelall R-110 easily grabbed the attention of Harrahs Automobile Collection researcher, Reed Doph, in January 1978. Upon hearing of the truck's availability, he promptly boarded a plane for Seattle with only a toothbrush and briefcase loaded with cash. He then drove his new acquisition back to Reno, NV covering 800 miles while the odometer only read 31,000 miles at the time of purchase. The new owner held onto this wonderful Travellall for another 22 years before parting with it in 2000. This left the vehicle to be purchased by its third and final owner, Mr. Mohrschladt who kept the car well maintained and highly admired for the next 17 years. In 2017, our trusted team acquired this stunning International Travelall R-110 in order for it to be displayed at our premier classic and collector car museum, in St. Louis, Missouri where it still starts and cruises with ease!

Featuring a 115 wheelbase and 1/2 ton carrying capacity, these trucks are fitted with double-action shock absorbers plus easy-riding long leaf springs providing a desired cushioned-comfort travel. Under the hood of this classic International for sale lies the Silver Diamond 220.5ci Inline 6 cylinder engine that is mated to a 3-speed column shift manual transmission. With only typical expendable items replaced; such as tires, belts, hoses, battery, exhaust, newly painted wheels, etc., the balance of the rest of the vehicle remains all original! This classic will come with a host of original documentation upon purchase that includes original sale documents, ownership history, service stickers, the original owner's drivers license, maps of Olympic National Park symbolizing the vehicle's rich history of travels, toolbox, umbrellas, operators manual, and of course the original brochure. Also included are spare items found by the owners that include a factory original radio speaker, extra hub caps, and headlight trim rings.
