That Marcello Gandini, what that man can design incredibly well. Let's face it, the Iso Rivolta Lele is a fantastically proportioned car, isn't it? The Iso Rivolta Lele is also known as Iso Lele. Did you know that the Iso Lele is named after Pierro Rivolta's wife? The car and name were a Christmas present for Rachelle ("Lele" for close friends) Rivolta. This car was first admitted to traffic in 1974, making it one of the last Iso Lele's to be built. Unlike earlier Lele's that were powered by a General Motors V8 engine, this Lele is powered by a Ford V8 engine. The change of engine supplier was actually caused by General Motors. They demanded that Iso Rivolta pay for the engines in advance. They did not see that in Bresso and so the order for the last series of engines went to Ford, which were a lot more compliant. So this is an Iso Lele IR6. The car is in very nice condition. The body looks fantastic and the sheet metal is nice and thin. The closing seams are also beautifully the same everywhere.
For cosmetic reasons, the paint has already been repainted in its original color: Blu Metallizzato. The paint has been well sprayed and is in excellent condition, with only some very light traces of use. The interior is covered with beautiful light-colored leather. The leather is original and has a beautiful patina. The dashboard has out inlays and beautiful Jaeger counters. The 5.7 liter Ford V8 engine is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The Iso Lele is equipped with an extremely refined suspension that gives the car a very pleasant driving behavior. The Lele is not intended as a sports car but is a real "Gran Tourer". At the time, the Lele had to compete against the Lamborghini Espada. The fact that the public thought the car was too angular and that the car was "only" equipped with a V8 engine as opposed to the V12 engine in the Lamborghini, made sales disappointing from the start. In 5 years time Iso Rivolta only managed to sell 285 Lele's. It was the beginning of the end, the car that was launched in 1969 with such a beautiful romantic story was, partly due to the lack of success, to blame for the bankruptcy that followed in 1974. That makes an Iso Lele even more desirable today. In short, a very nice original Iso Rivolta Lele in a fantastic color scheme.
