25 years in possession, then you can speak of 'long term ownership'. The owner from whom we took over this beautiful and original Dutch Jaguar 240 deliberately chose this version with its relatively economical but silky smooth 2.4 liter six cylinder instead of the better known but also greedier 3.4 liter. The elegant Jaguar 240 you see here is a pleasure to drive and look at.The 'two-forty' may be the affordable variant of the time, but the appearance and driving qualities are not inferior to its heavier brother. In return comes a pleasant consumption and maintenance costs that are just a bit friendlier. Exactly the reason why the previous owner bought this car, as he drove long distances and often visited the Jag's country of origin. As is often apparent, downtime is often less good for a car than regular use and this 240 is a fine example of that: what a flexibility and comfort. The owner maintained his Jaguar with great regularity so that we can offer here a car that is immediately ready for (whether or not intensive) use. The car has been restored in the past and looks very fresh. The exterior is characterized by the narrower bumpers, which are typical of the 240 and 340. It makes the car, in combination with the warm gray paint very stylish. Also on the rest of the Jaguar you can see that this is a well cared for car, with beautiful chrome parts and nice details. If you open the door you will be welcomed by the typical understated English atmosphere. Beige leather, beige carpets and shiny wood are the main reason for this but also the many gauges and numerous toggle switches with the light switch in the middle contribute to the ambiance. In the center is the gearshift that controls the four-speed manual transmission with optional overdrive.Under the hood it looks very well cared for and that is not surprising since the engine was completely overhauled ten years ago. The six-cylinder spins beautifully and has been neatly maintained. By the way, do not be fooled by the fact that this is not the top motorization: with 135 hp it is still a smooth car.The car comes with the necessary documentation. Invoices of recent maintenance are included, as well as the necessary large technical drawings and the original instruction booklet. This 1968 Jaguar 240 is ready to go long distances and wonderful trips. In all comfort and luxury and with great elegance.
