Jaguar E-type 3.8 Litre OTS, year 1961.
Colour cream white (Old English white) combined with a red leather interior, red carpet and a black mohair soft-top. This is a “matching numbers” car, a certificate from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust is present to confirm this.
This gorgeous Jaguar E-Type was built in July 1961 and delivered a few months later to its first owner in California USA. This Jaguar E-type series 1 OTS (Open Two-Seater, also named “roadster” in the USA) is an early example which can be recognized by the OBL “outside bonnet latches”.
Only 386 E-type OTS cars were built to the early specifications, this car is production number 305.
The current Dutch owner imported the car from Italy in 2017. In the period 2017 – 2021 the automobile was extensively restored and overhauled to factory original specifications.
Where possible the original parts were kept and restored, worn parts were renewed.
The first Jaguar E-type 3.8 Litre model is the sportiest and most desirable version.
The 3.8 Litre XK engine, fitted with 3 S.U. carburettors, has an output of 265 bhp which comes close to the 270 of the Le Mans D-type racing cars.
The E-type accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6,9 seconds to reach a top speed of 240 km/h, hyper car figures in the 1960s!
This rare early Jaguar E-type shows wonderful original details like the special bucket seats, the dashboard with aluminium finish and the 3.8 Litre cylinder head with pumpkin orange finish.
The later models featured a gold painted finish.
The car is fitted with chrome wire wheels shod with Vredestein 185 R 15 Sprint Classic tyres, and a Stainless-Steel exhaust instead of a mild steel version as originally fitted.
Since completion of the restoration this wonderful car has driven just shy of 2000 kilometres.
This rare early Jaguar E-type is a great find for the Jaguar Collector and enthusiast!
