Description

A self-explanatory classic, the Jaguar E-type. Elegant, sporty and with a lot of class. In general, it can be said that the first series of the sports car introduced in 1961 can be described as the most beloved. It is the version how Malcolm Sayer originally intended it, with the small taillights placed above the bumper. From the second series on, they were placed lower and, due to American regulations, the beautiful headlight lenses that made for a very slick look at the front disappeared. All not the case with this early 'first series' OTS that rolled off the production line on February 23, 1963 and was handed over to its first owner a good week later at Jaguar Cars in New York. This is an E-type 3.8 Litre, which means that under the hood there is a very powerful 3.8-liter six-cylinder with three SU carburetors. Good for 265 hp and a top speed of no less than 241 km/h. Yet it is primarily the smooth and impressive way in which the ear-pleasing six-cylinder does its work that stands out. A pleasure to be on the road with, where the experience gets an extra dimension with the folded convertible roof. The sound, the wind and the acceleration: eyes and ears are caressed, arms are given goose bumps when the right pedal is depressed. The hefty power is delivered to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission, delightful! The beautiful red paint owes this Series 1 to an extensive restoration carried out some time ago. The body originating from America was practically rust free. Nevertheless, the car was completely tackled, which included a complete disassembly of the engine. Of course, all related issues such as brakes, suspension and gearbox are also as they should be for a car of this class. So driving this Jag does a fantastic job. Although we advise you to keep this car in this super condition, there is één thing that we nóg want to put on your heart: driving is the most fun with this car!The interior with black upholstery is in a very healthy condition. The many gauges and rocker switches all work properly. Only the too modern radio is out of tune with the rest of the car but that is easy to do something about. As is often the case with classics of this caliber, the car has been handled with care after restoration. This E-type has been used after its restoration, something that is only good for a car, but with care. As a result, all you have to do with this E-type after purchase is ééone thing: turn the key, let the English power source come to life and enjoy!
