"There are cars you drive – and there are cars you experience.
The Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12 is both: a design icon and a machine that turns every mile into an event."
1971 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12 Coupé – a British icon with a grand heart
This model represents the final grand statement of the legendary E-Type – powered by a heart as smooth as it is powerful: a 5.3-litre all-aluminium V12, fed by four Zenith-Stromberg carburettors. Delivering around 272 hp and a muscular 412 Nm of torque, it offers effortless acceleration and commanding pull in every gear. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a traditional driveshaft, paired with a precise 4-speed manual gearbox or an optional automatic.
Technically, the Series 3 showcased Jaguar’s engineering prowess of the early 1970s: fully independent suspension all round, inboard rear disc brakes, ventilated front discs, and – for the first time in an E-Type – power steering as standard.
Its presence is unmistakable: the wider front grille, subtly flared wheel arches, and the elongated 2+2 coupé body grant it a commanding stance while preserving its unmistakable silhouette.
With 0–100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds and a top speed of around 240 km/h, the V12 E-Type remains a fast and desirable classic. Yet its silky power delivery and long-legged cruising ability make it as much a refined Grand Tourer as a sports car – a true gentleman’s express.
The condition of this model is almost perfect. In addition, with only 15,000 kilometers driven, it is as good as new from 2nd hand: Not an import model, the only previous owner from the Swiss Jura treated and maintained the car above average.
