Description

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at CarFest 2026 on Saturday the 29th of August and Sunday the 30th of August at The Wing, Silverstone Circuit, NN12 8TN.

The Jaguar XJC was introduced in 1975 as a two-door pillarless coupé based on the Series 2 saloon. It was produced in limited numbers until 1978 and is now regarded as one of the most distinctive XJs. Designed under the personal direction of Jaguar founder Sir William Lyons, it is celebrated for its elegant, sleek profile and seamless "glasshouse" look when all four side windows are rolled down.

First registered in 1976, this rare XJ 4.2C is finished in Opalescent Silver Blue with a well-presented cream leather interior, creating an elegant and timeless color combination. This handsome Jaguar is understood to have been the subject of an older restoration, supported by a photographic record supplied with the car. While no longer recent, the restoration appears to have stood the test of time well, with the car continuing to present to a pleasing standard throughout.

The car was originally finished in Old English White with a red interior before being professionally refinished in its current color scheme. The brightwork and exterior trim also appear to have been renewed during the restoration, contributing to its smart overall presentation.

The cream leather interior has been retrimmed to a notably high standard, complemented by well-presented wood veneers, carpets, and trim, creating an exceptionally smart cabin befitting Jaguar's luxurious grand tourer.

Powered by Jaguar's renowned 4.2-litre XK straight-six engine coupled to the desirable Borg Warner automatic transmission, the vendor advises that the car runs and drives well. It presents an appealing example of one of Jaguar's most elegant and increasingly sought-after pillarless coupés.
