Description

1989 Jaguar XJS Roadster

This is a 4 owner car that started out in northeast Pennsylvania and migrated to CT in 2003 where it has been since then. The last 2 owners only using the car on sunny weekends and accumulating roughly 12,000 miles in the last 17 years, less than 1000 miles a year. Total mileage on the car is now 95,392. The last owner did little more than the usual oil changes and maintenance, the current owner has had the rubber fuel lines under the bonnet replaced, the convertible top (hood) replaced and the seats reupholstered plus the regular services. The car starts easily, although in extreme cold (below freezing, when the video was shot) she's a little rough at first start but quickly warms and smooths right out. The V12 idles nicely and runs and pulls strong under acceleration and back roads driving.

The car was repainted in her original NDP Glacier White at some point in it's life but not during the last two owners conservatorship. There are two small areas of the paint bubbling on the right rear rocker and behind the wheel well, other than that some minor corrosion is present on the undercarriage, no rot through anywhere. The right rear taillight has a small crack/hole and there are some minor abrasions on the rubber bumpers.

The interior is in rather good condition, the Warm Charcoal (LEG) leather in supple shape, the seats having been reupholstered less than a year ago. There is some cracking in the burl wood varnish and one small cut next to the right rear window, which is supposed to drop out of sight when the top goes down, but currently does not. The power top works as it should and as mentioned previously, is also brand new.

The heated power seats work as do the power windows and mirrors. The fan and heat work, the AC does not blow cold, the temp and oil pressure gauges are currently not functional either. During my photo-shoot the headlights stopped working (all 4) fuse is good, checked and cleaned relays, to no avail. Four General Altimax tires (in 215/70/R15) wrap around the lattice work wheels and are in very good condition, they're coded as 6-7 years old. Just behind each wheel power discs stop the car easily.

Initially seen as a replacement to the E-Type Jaguar, the former is a true sports car where the XJS is a GT - Grand Tourer and as such comparisons are not applicable.

The powerful 5.3L V12, putting roughly 300 HP and over 300 lbft of torque out through a GM sourced TH400 3 speed auto transmission, easily allows this auto to tour in a most grand fashion.

A great runner-driver with a few foibles that need mending, (the owner plans on getting the lights and gauges working correctly) the owner is asking $16,500.

Any questions, for many more photos and video, to schedule a time to see her in person or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank for the interest!
