Description

Jaguar XK120 DHC 1954 for saleThe early Jaguar XK models with XK120, XK140, and XK150 still today completely blow my mind with their performance and styling. The Drop Head Coupe (DHC) is the most versatile of the three body styles, thanks to a soft top that's relatively easy to operate. With its inner lining, the DHC remains fairly quiet inside even at high speeds. This model also offers slightly more interior space, allowing for small bags in the back or added comfort for a larger driver by extending the driver’s seat further back.Exterior: This particular Jaguar XK120, now available for sale, sports its original Suede Green color. The paint appears to be partially original, and while it shows some signs of aging, the car is still beautifully presented. A few scratches are visible, and the paint is worn through in one area on the driver’s door. Chrome details remain in very good original condition, and though the beige soft top is slightly weathered, it is intact and keeps the rain out. The car rolls on painted wire wheels for an enhanced look and improved handling. Notably, it still has the stunning original headlights. Underneath, the car appears structurally sound, with no signs of major welding work.Interior: Typically, I would say the Jaguar XK120 isn’t ideal for taller drivers, but this car has been fitted with bucket seats, allowing more legroom while maintaining the interior's classic appearance. The XK 120 wood paneling seems to have been restored at some point, but it’s been done tastefully to preserve the car’s harmony. The carpets are partially original, and a fire extinguisher is neatly fitted under the dashboard. The original seats, which are in excellent condition, come with the car, as does the slightly smaller steering wheel currently installed for added driver space.Engine and Mechanics: Perhaps, the highlight of this particular Jaguar XK120 DHC is the driving experience. The engine runs very smoothly, and it feels like all 160 hp are still fully present under the hood. This car truly shines on the highway, where the retrofitted five-speed Getrag gearbox allows for effortless cruising at 120 km/h. Watching the reactions of people you pass only adds to the thrill. The original gearbox is also included if you wish to restore it to strict original specifications. Otherwise, the Jaguar has been very well-maintained over the years, with an aluminum radiator and electric fan added to keep it cool.History: According to its Jaguar Heritage Certificate, this XK120 DHC was sold new in Sweden in early 1954. In 1964, it came into the possession of Mr. Stenback, the founder of the Swedish Jaguar Club, who owned the car until 2016. The car includes comprehensive documentation of service work and parts replaced over the years, as well as the original XK120 DHC handbook and spare parts manual. The trunk holds the original spare, jack, and tools. This is a car for someone looking for a genuine XK, with plenty of character and just the right amount of patina. A true driver’s car, perfect for Grand Touring. If you live in Sweden and would like to sell your classic Jaguar, please let us know here.
