Description

Jaguar came out with the XK150 in 1957; a further development of the XK120 and XK140, still using the chassis as a base. The XK150 received the delightful 3.4-liter engine of its predecessors, while the bodywork changed, offering more visibility all around as well as more interior space. In addition to a wider grille, a significant improvement was the redesigned brake system. From now on, drum brakes were a thing of the past and the XK150 featured Dunlop disc brakes. This led to a drastic increase in braking performance, which better suited the sporty character of this Jaguar. The XK150 was initially available only as a coupé with a fixed or fold-down roof, with the open roadster appearing only a year later. At 190 hp, the engine's maximum output was identical to that of the XK140. 'Special Equipment' and 'S' versions came with 210 and 250 hp respectively, with the latter able to lay down astonishing performance for the time. How was this achieved? Jaguar applied several modifications, introducing, among other things, the 'straight port' cylinder head developed by Weslake and high compression pistons. An overdrive and automatic transmission were among the options. In fact, more and more customers chose an automatic transmission. Steel wheels remained the standard equipment, although XK150’s were largely sold in SE (Special Equipment) specification with wire wheels. Our example in Brummen is very nice and concerns the sought-after OTS version and also ‘matching numbers’ confirmed by Jaguar Heritage (JDHT) certificated, which we provide with this car. Recently this example was thoroughly restored and overhauled and this is extensively documented, including photos’of the work and various invoices. We speak here of a ‘body off’ and ‘nut and bolt’ restoration. View a selection of the restoration work in the photo gallery of this ad. With nice fits and fresh paint, the exterior looks neat, including the chrome work and wire wheels. The rubbers look fresh and the whole makes a neat impression. In the interior we find nice leather upholstery with beautiful carpets. The restoration work can also be found in the interior and the whole looks neat. The authentic elements such as the steering wheel and the clocks look great. Also, the blue soft-top is pleasing to the eye and makes a particularly nice combination with the white body color and blue upholstery. How does this Jaguar drive? In ééone word: fantastic! Due to the overhaul work, this XK is technically in good condition. The engine runs really nice and shifting is precise. Both the clutch and the brake pedal are easy to operate and you can enjoy this XK.Are you interested in this beautiful Jaguar? Please contact us via the contact form on our website.
