Description

By any standards, a Jaguar XK150 is a fairly common car and one that you can find fairly easily. A Jaguar XK150 OTS in very original condition will be a lot harder to find and a Jaguar XK150 3.8 S OTS from the last series will be almost impossible. This is because only 14 of them were made in total. Most of those 14 cars are part of collections and hardly ever see the light of day, let alone a showroom. For a Jaguar connoisseur, this is by far the most desirable XK150 and is on a par with the E-Type Lightweight of which only 13 were made. This car is the first of the series of only 14 left-hand drive XK150 3.8S OTS examples. The car was built in November 1959 and delivered to Germany by Jaguar importer Fendler & Luedemann in Hamburg. The car was then owned for a long time by a doctor in Strasbourg who mainly cherished and cared for the car. What is remarkable is that the car has never been taken apart and has only been repainted once in its original color. The car therefore has a guaranteed damage free past and is still in highly original condition. The car was then bought by a Danish Jaguar enthusiast in 2005. He was the penultimate owner and kept the car until the beginning of this year. The car won several competitions during this period and was regularly used for large multi-day Jaguar rally’s. When we look at the car we not only see a beautiful Cream-colored Jaguar XK150 OTS but we also immediately see that this is an extremely original car. The age-old adage: “a car is only original once” is again completely true. The bodywork and the chassis stand out for their originality. It has been a long time since we have seen such’an original Jaguar XK150 and certainly several decades since we encountered such’an original specimen in the good condition shown here. So the paint has been re-sprayed once in the original color. This work has been done well and the car looks beautiful as a result. The sheet metal is nice and thin and the fits are correct. The car stands on the original wire wheels with good Michelin tires in the correct sizes. The car is also equipped with the then optional floodlights with yellow lenses. The convertible top is in good condition and fits everywhere nicely. The original tonneau cover is also present and has a beautiful patina. When we look under the hood we notice that the car still has the original nameplates and also the German delivery plate is still present. Furthermore, all stamped numbers are present such as the body number, chassis number and numbers on the block and cylinder head. Everything underlines the originality of the car. In addition, the original tool kit is also present with the car and the car comes with a complete set of keys. The interior shows an equally beautiful picture. The leather upholstery and carpets are completely original and look great. No matter what you have done, this can not be replicated, this is pure use and time: beautiful! The fact that the interior is original and old does not mean that it does not look good or that it is worn out, quite the contrary. The leather of course has considerable traces of use but is still very supple and also sits well. The carpets are neatly cared for and the dashboard also looks great. The instruments and controls are all original and also look very good. The counters, of course, also function fully as they should. The wooden steering wheel was installed afterwards and looks good. The technique is through the years very well cared for. The counter shows 46,481 kilometers, in all probability the total mileage is only 146,481 kilometers. As a result, the engine runs beautifully. Thanks to the three carburetors, the engine produces 265 hp and the Jaguar XK150 is still a very fast car even by today's standards. The intake sound is fantastic and the running of the engine can only be described as extremely smooth. The beautiful sound is not only heard through the three carburetors but also through the period correct Abarth exhaust. The exhaust was fitted immediately upon delivery and gives the car a magnificent soundtrack. The transmission has fine gear ratios, shifts tightly and is equipped with the extremely rare mechanical overdrive. Because this is ééone of the last Jaguar XK150’s, the car is equipped with Dunlop disc brakes all around which not only provide much more deceleration but are also very easy to dose. The front suspension is independent and the suspension at the rear consists of a rigid axle, the XK150 was therefore already praised at the time for its good road holding and is still a very fine driving car by today's standards. The car is well documented. There are photos of the car from the past, of the work done, a FIVA pass, a Jaguar Heritage Certificate which endorses the originality and general information about the car.
