What a shape!An OTS (Open Two Seater) is, according to many, the most beautifully lined Jaguar. We gladly concur, because be honest. A body like this’s still a great beauty to behold. Beautiful flowing shapes and just the right proportions in terms of length of the front and rear of the car. With the sporty two-seater interior in between. In this case executed in the most beautiful dark red leather imaginable. No fancy wood accents as in the Drop Head Coupe, but simply everything in leather, with the central dashboard containing all the instruments that should give the driver the necessary information. The main role here is reserved for the tachometer, which is eager to go as far out as possible as proof that the 3.4 liter 6-cylinder DOHC (Double Overhead Camshaft) is capable of great things. That certainly applies to the XK 140 we offer here, as this is the SE (Special Equipment) version. This is the version that delivers the most horsepower, namely 213. No small feat, and it is very noticeable. The suppleness that accompanies this power is truly amazing. Every kilometer provides pleasure for the occupants, but also amazement at the fact that how it is possible that a car from, in this case 1955, can drive so well, even with a top speed of well over 200 km/h. A little reverence for the technology is in order, so we stick to revving the car wonderfully and, from time to time, keeping the engine nice and clean. For the purist, it is good to know that the car is fully “Matching Numbers” and is also equipped with an original 4-speed manual transmission.The OTS is also called Roadster with the typical features a nice slim and chrome windshield frame and removable side windows. The soft top can be stored neatly behind the seats. Setting up and folding the soft-top requires a little more work than with the DHC, but then it is also super sleek. In practice we hardly ever drive with the roof on anyway, so we cannot speak of a disadvantage. Besides the new side windows, this car also comes with a handy tonneau cover to cover the interior in no time. Not a cheap vinyl one but precisely tailored from the finest black mohair fabric.A total of 3,356 examples of the Open Two Seater were produced from 1954 to 1957, of which 74 were right-hand drive and 3,282 were left-hand drive. This XK 140 OTS was initially delivered to an American owner according to the included Jaguar Heritage Certifcate and found its way back to Europe in 2015. A Dutch owner then took care of a full restoration. And then we mean completely and for the major issues such as engine overhaul, sheet metal and paintwork, using the professional services of renowned specialists.With the restoration, many original parts were used and where possible, old parts were overhauled. Various improvements have also been made, such as the installation of electronic ignition, an aluminum fuel tank and a high performance aluminum radiator. Things that are really useful and that increase the reliability and thus the pleasure in this beautiful classic car. Everything can be seen and noticed that neither cost nor effort have been spared.But due to various circumstances the car has not been used much and since the restoration it has only been driven about 1000 km.
