WORK DONE SINCE JULY 2023:-
The present owner embarked on tailoring this fabulous car to his own requirements from July 2023, commencing with:-
Re-upholstering the front seats including the correct seat runners, and cleaning the carpets.
To suit modern driving, he swapped the pedals to have the foot brake in the middle and the accelerator pedal on the right. At the same time he changed the clutch operating shaft to give a lighter clutch. New clutch linings fitted.
Greased all springs with graphite between the leaves with the car hanging on chassis stands.
Calmer brand new Newman camshafts fitted to replace more performance based racy LMB camshafts to give more torque – indeed the engine will now pull away from low speed or roundabouts in top gear! Compressions on all cylinders now 145 / 150 up from 130 /135 psi. (LMB camshafts of course included in the sale – see photo)

Reason for the sale – A long standing Lagonda owner, we sold his top quality High Chassis 2-litre Lagonda Tourer two years ago for this even better Low chassis 2-litre model. However, with increasing ‘anno domini’ my client aspires to another Lagonda with wider doors – a T7 bodied six cylinder 16/80 – much easier to access with bigger rear hinged doors, the 16/80 now coming with the new Crossley 15.7 two litre engine…

Lagonda background
Lagonda was founded by an Amercan, Wilbur Gunn, first building motorcycles, but soon developed light cars, realising that larger sports cars were where the market was going from the late 1920s and into the early 1930s. However, the firm soon met with the Receiver, and in 1935 Lagonda was acquired by Alan Good, then to employ W.O. Bentley to refine the 4 ½ litre in the M45 and later 4480cc V-12, which competed with anything Rolls-Royce could make – owners then of Bentley Motors from 1931.
