Description

Countach is Piedmontese dialect for: amazing or wonderful. A Piedmontese Lamborghini employee kept repeating it during the car's development that it was finally decided to name the car Countach. It's an apt name for such an unusual car, Ferruccio Lamborghini soon realized. This example was built in May 1988 in Sant Agatha Bolognese in Italië and went to the United States shortly thereafter. The car has always been cherished there by enthusiasts and still looks beautiful. The car has driven only 33,000 kilometers and looking at the overall condition of the car, we cannot but conclude that this is the original mileage. Fortunately, this is a European version that is many times nicer than the cars’s intended for the American market from the beginning. As icing on the cake, this car also features an original rear spoiler to complete the looks. The bodywork is in very good condition. The fits are correct and all doors and flaps close as they should. The paint has recently been repainted and is in new condition. The black paint looks great with the 17-inch five-spoke Lamborghini wheels. The Countach's appearance is “peak poster car”. The looks are like nothing else, the wide air vents, the four exhausts, those big rims: there is an angry bull here for good reason. The interior is very original and is still in good condition. The seats are great and offer great support. The steering wheel is original and is in good condition. The dashboard is further equipped with two AEM wideband Lambda meters that work together with the custom ignition, but more on that later. Another thing to note is that this Countach has climate control. From experience we can report that the air conditioning does its job well, a welcome addition as it makes traveling distances just a little easier. Because although its imposing appearance may suggest otherwise, the Countach is a wonderful travel car.

The car is quite comfortable, dead fast and actually quite spacious. The controls for both the steering wheel, the shifter and the clutch are of course heavy as you would expect from a Lamborghini but that is exactly as it was once intended by the factory. The technology is very well maintained and on a crucial part solidly modified. Namely, the car is equipped with a modern ignition. This work has been done very correctly. Thus, the car has been provided with separate ignition coils, a separate control and the ignition is properly adjusted. When driving the Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole, it is of course no surprise that a car that produces 450 hp is very fast, but it is an even bigger surprise that the engine does so with such’n unprecedented smoothness. The 5.2-liter V12 is equipped with six twin Weber carburetors that produce a sound unlike anything else. As the Countach revs, the power increases more with every 100 rpm and the engine sounds magical. The transmission dates back to a time when people did not worry about final gearing to perhaps reduce some Co2 emissions and so the gear ratios are bordering on perfection. When you rev the engine full and put in the next gear the engine falls right back into the powerband and the whole party starts from scratch. No matter what gear or speed you are currently driving. The brakes and suspension are also in very good condition and contribute to the wonderful symbiosis between engine sound and handling. The car comes with a report from the United States and some general information about the model. In short, a beautiful Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole to see and an absolutely unparalleled pleasure to be on the road.
