Description

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, Supercar Fest Sale of Iconic and Classic Cars 2024 on Saturday the 18th of May, Sywell Aerodrome, Sywell, Northampton, NN6 0BN.

The Lamborghini Gallardo was launched in 2003 with production ending in 2013 and was the most successful model in the history of the company. With the help of parent company, Audi, the Gallardo became the most usable and reliable model to ever leave the Sant'Agata factory, not to mention the most prolific, with a total of 14,022 examples finding homes. Named after a famous breed of fighting bull, the V10-powered Gallardo was Lamborghini's stablemate to a succession of V12 flagship models. It was a landmark model too, the first genuinely all-new car to be made by Sant'Agata under Audi ownership and also marked a return for the firm to making a more affordable, usable GT, something it hadn't done since the Jalpa went out of production in 1988.
Introduced in 2007, the Gallardo Nera was an all-black, limited-edition version designed, to showcase the marques Ad Personam personalisation programme with only 185 planned for production. All were finished in Nero Serapis/Nero Noctis and featured special paintwork in matt black on the side mirrors, rear spoiler, rear body panels, roof, selected front panels and on the door sills and rear apron. White side indicator lenses and darkened tail lights complement the 'stealth mode' look of the exterior and the cars were presented on a set of 19" Satin Black 'Callisto' split-rim alloy wheels, housing silver Lamborghini-badged calipers and shod in Pirelli P Zero tyres.
The interior is styled in the colours Nero Perseus and Bianco Polar using the bi-colour sportive equipment variant. A further Branding Package and the Ad Personam equipment package provides additional distinctive touches. The Leather II variant in Bianco Polar includes leather trims for the climate control operating panel, handbrake and gear lever console in addition to the inner door handles and seat side-cushions. The seats boast rhomboidal stitching in the Q-citura pattern, which can also be found on the Alcantara roof lining, door trims, the partition wall between the seats, and the engine compartment. Instrument rings and decorative stitching on the steering wheel, plus white piping on the seats and mats, round off the interior.
Factory-fitted options on these models included a rear-mounted reversing camera, electrically adjustable heated seats, dual-zone climate control with air conditioning, a front axle lift system, satellite navigation and a sport mode for the gearbox. Mechanically, the Nera was similar to the standard car and offered a 5-litre naturally-aspirated V10 engine, delivering 513bhp to all four wheels via a 6-speed, automated manual 'E-gear' transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddles and offering 0-60mph in four seconds on its way to 197mph.
Only 185 Gallardo Nera were produced and of these 60 were destined for the American market, 101 were sold in Europe and it's believed that only 24 right-hand drive cars were built making this a very rare example. We understand from our vendor that when he purchased the Nera it was advertised that a former keeper was a famous golfer and the seller later confirmed that it had belonged to British Open-winning Ulsterman, Darren Clarke OBE.
This fabulous Lamborghini has been meticulously cared for and is supplied with all its keys and a history file containing the book-pack, the comprehensive history, a recent health check and its current MOT Certificate. With only 185 worldwide, this is a rare and valuable supercar in fabulous condition and may turn out to be a very sensible investment.
