Description

When we think of Lamborghini, we often dream of powerful V12 engines like those in the Countach. But did you know that it was actually the Jalpa that played a key role in ensuring the survival of the factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese during the turbulent 1980s? Following the Urraco and the Silhouette, the Jalpa was the model that enabled Lamborghini to appeal to a broader audience. It was Lamborghini’s answer to the Ferrari 308: a car that was more compact and practical, yet still exuded pure Italian passion. Isn’t that the most beautiful kind of history a car can carry? The Jalpa is a further development of the Silhouette, technically refined under the supervision of Giulio Alfieri, the man who had previously made his mark at Maserati. By increasing the displacement of the V8 engine to 3.5 liters, a powerplant with an output of around 255 hp was created. With a top speed of approximately 249 km/h and a weight lower than that of the V12 models, the Jalpa offered a remarkably accessible and agile driving experience. Between 1982 and 1988, only 410 units were built, making it a rare and beloved sight among collectors today. This specific 1987 model is finished in the iconic Rosso Siviglia. The paint is deep, rich in color, and in fantastic condition, beautifully highlighting the angular, quintessential 1980s shape. The interior has been preserved with the utmost care, and the ergonomics—which were significantly improved in the Jalpa compared to its predecessors—are truly impeccable. What makes this Jalpa truly unique is its technical condition. No expense was spared: the engine was completely overhauled and rebuilt by specialists a few years ago. You can tell. The engine runs very well, and driving this Lamborghini is a pleasure. The clutch is not too heavy to operate, shifting is surprisingly smooth, and the seating position is typical Lamborghini. In addition, this Lamborghini is personally signed by Valentino Balboni, the legendary factory test driver. It comes with the complete set of booklets and the original factory brochure. The overall condition is very neat and lovingly maintained. A Jalpa in this condition, with this documented history and Balboni’s seal of approval, is an investment in pure Italian driving pleasure. Are you interested in this rare Lamborghini?
