Double Bubble

The notable Lancia Flaminia Sport 3C Coupé with a striking Zagato body design showcases the signature 'Double Bubble' body style of the Milan-based design firm. This distinct form achieves a sleek and streamlined appearance through the clever addition of roof bulges above each front seat, providing ample head clearance while maintaining a low overall profile.

Zagato
Established in 1919, Carrozzeria Ugo Zagato & Co was founded with the goal of fusing Ugo Zagato's expertise in advanced and lightweight construction methods from the aeronautical industry with automobile design. As one of the most reputable and long-standing automotive design firms, Zagato was quick to capitalize on the emerging popularity of the GT racing category following World War II. The company supplied both factory teams and private individuals with road-worthy vehicles that could compete on the racetrack with great success.

Flaminia
The Flaminia made its debut at the 1956 Turin Motor Show and retained the same basic mechanical layout as its predecessor, the Aurelia, except for the modern double wishbone suspension system that replaced Lancia's traditional sliding-pillar independent front suspension. The 60-degree, 2,458cc, overhead-valve, V6 engine and De Dion rear transaxle with inboard brakes were carried over from the Aurelia. The Sport and Super Sport models with Zagato bodywork shared a shortened wheelbase with the Touring-styled GT/GTL coupes and the Convertible.

Exterior
The car underwent a bare metal and comprehensive restoration resulting in a stunning rich grey metallic paint finish and with perfectly re-chromed parts. The restoration was finished in the end of 2018 after which the Flaminia joined the owner’s exclusive collection and was used for various top-level events and tours. The quality of the restoration work was exceptional, as evidenced by the car's participation in The Master Pieces Concours d’Elegance in 2018, where it earned an outstanding top score and a 100-point rating from a jury of 20 members. Even now, the car is in excellent condition and has received regular maintenance to keep it in top concourse shape.

Interior

The interior of the car exudes luxury and sophistication, thanks to the stunning ruby red leather upholstery complemented by dark grey mohair carpeting. The sporty steering wheel is original and features very rare Zagato styled seats and the distinguished Zagato emblem, further adding to the car's allure. The dashboard is both stylish and functional, with clear displays for speed and revs that enable the driver to keep track of the car's performance. Overall, the interior creates a sense of readiness to take on the open road with confidence.

Mechanically

This particular Lancia / Zagato design is a rare find, being one of only 205 Flaminia Sports produced between 1959 and 1964. The engine bay is clean and well-maintained, featuring the reconditioned 2.5-liter engine with a triple carburettor setup that is in pristine condition. The attention to detail and quality of workmanship is evident throughout the car, making it a standout example of Italian automotive design and engineering.

In summary, this is a highly sought-after and exceedingly rare sports car which has been meticulously maintained and is a true gem that surpasses all expectations. It's quite possible that this exceptional car is not only among the finest of its kind but could even be considered the very best in the world. "
