History As was the tradition of the house of LANCIA, a coupe derivative of the sedan was presented. In 1965, the Lancia Fulvia Coupé appeared. This car became one of the most successful sports cars of the time. The engine is placed very far forward, which leaves space for the passenger compartment. The gearshift on the floor is very long.
It will mark its time thanks to the countless victories obtained in rally car, with in particular its victory in the 1972 International Motorcycle Championship (or IMC, after a 3rd place in 1970; victories in the RAC Rally 1970, Monte Carlo 1972, Morocco 1972 and Sanremo 1972), as well as in the Rally of the Flowers / SAN REMO in 1965, 1966 and 1969, in the Rally of Spain in 1966, 1967 and 1969, in the Rally of Portugal in 1968, in the RAC Rally in 1969, in the 24 Hours of Nurburgring in 1969, and in the Rally of the Costa Brava in 1973
The Fulvia Coupe has a very low and bright body designed by Piero Castagnero, homologated as a 2+2, its length is 3.975 m, width 1.555 m and height 1.30 m with a wheelbase of 2.33 m.
In its first series, the engine was a 4-cylinder fed by 2 double-body carburetors, in narrow V 13° and tilted at 45° to reduce the height, a displacement of 1 216 cm3, power of 80 hp at 6 000 rpm and a torque of 106 Nm at 4 000 rpm, 4 disc brakes and a speed of 160 km/h with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 14 seconds. The V-shaped cylinders closed at 13° will be taken over but at 15° by the Volkswagen group and its various brands for its VR 5, VR6, VR8 as well as its W10, W12 and W16. The "VR4" of the Lancia Fulvia, since it is lying at 45°, is thus presented as a half-W8.
