The Lancia Ypsilon Hybrid uses 12V (or 48V in newer models) mild hybrid technology that combines a 3-cylinder FireFly gasoline engine with a BSG (Belt Integrated Starter Generator) electric motor. The system recovers energy during braking and deceleration, recharging a small battery that assists the internal combustion engine during start-up and acceleration, reducing fuel consumption and emissions by up to 24%.
How it works:
Energy recovery occurs when the accelerator is released (coasting) or brakes are applied. The electric motor (BSG) acts as a generator, recovering kinetic energy and converting it into electricity stored in the lithium battery.
The electric motor supports the gasoline engine during restarts (for smoother start-stop) and acceleration. At low speeds (below 30 km/h), the system can shut off the internal combustion engine (coasting) to save fuel.
Automatic management means there is no need to recharge the car with cables; everything happens automatically while driving.
Benefits include access to restricted traffic zones (ZTL) and free parking in many Italian cities, along with reduced fuel consumption.
An additional 12-month warranty is included, on top of the legal conformity warranty, at the listed price. The vehicle is delivered washed, sanitized, disinfected, and mechanically inspected.
