The Maserati 3500GT was a significant model for Maserati as it was the first road car to be built in a relatively large volume. In 1957, Maserati officially withdrew from motorsport and all attention was now focused on producing Gran Turismo cars. The 3500GT's elegant design was the creation of Milanese coachwork Carrozzeria Touring, whose Superleggera (Superlight) patent used rolled aluminum panels over a thin tubular steel frame that described the shape of the body.
Only 2226 units were produced!
