Description

In the 1970s, Maserati was part of Citroën, resulting in a period of technological cooperation and shared development between the two companies. This cooperation resulted in some innovative models such as the Maserati Bora and Merak, which used the legendary hydraulic technology of the Citroën. However, the financialën crisis at Citroën in the mid-1970s led to the sale of Maserati to Argentine automaker Alessandro De Tomaso. And so not long after, the Maserati Kyalami appeared. Under the skin, it was a revised version of the De Tomaso Longchamp, equipped with a 4.1 or 4.9-liter Maserati eight-cylinder engine instead of the Ford engine. With the larger V8 engine, the Kyalami was a true 150 mph car. Taking a look at the bodywork, it must be admitted that this Pietro Frua could draw. He was entrusted with the beautiful design of the DeTomaso Longchamp with the task of giving it a look that better suited Maserati. The Kyalami is a stately coupé, which still has an unmistakable Maserati look. This example is powered by a 4.2-liter V8 engine, which is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Our example is an original Dutch car and ééone of only 200 built. The car really looks very nice in silver gray with black leather upholstery and with an incredibly low mileage of 9,600 km. In 1978, this Maserati came to the Maserati importer in the Netherlands. With two large documentation folders, this car is very extensively documented. For example, we see that it was recently extensively serviced by a renowned specialist. In addition, we find numerous invoices with the car, even from when the car was several years old. We also find various driving tests, tuning data, an appraisal report and the original warranty booklet from Maserati. The bodywork looks very nice, including correct fits. At first sight it is immediately noticeable that the car has a beautiful original appearance. This then fits perfectly with the very low mileage. The silver gray paint is in very good condition and very original. The car stands on the original wheels with good tires in the correct size. On the bottom is the whole in very good condition. The interior of the Maserati is covered with beautiful black leather and is also in good condition. In short, then, the interior is pleasing to the eye and the seats are as good as the day they were delivered new. The instruments and controls are also in very good condition, as is the headliner. Check out the photos’s for an impression. The technology is very well taken care of. The 4.2-liter V8 engine produces 265 horsepower and makes the Kyalami a perfect companion for traveling longer distances. This is a stylish GT with a true Italian engine. The overall technical condition of the car cannot but be called very good. The engine runs beautifully, has wonderful pulling power and the transmission shifts precisely. The brakes and suspension are otherwise nicely cared for and function as they should. Are you interested in this beautiful Maserati? Contact us now, we will be happy to assist you.
