Description

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at CarFest 2026 on Saturday the 29th of August and Sunday the 30th of August at The Wing, Silverstone Circuit, NN12 8TN.

Developed by Mazda as its Group A rally homologation special before the manufacturer's withdrawal from top-level rallying, with development testing undertaken by Finnish rally legend Hannu Mikkola. Mazda produced only 2,500 units globally to satisfy FIA rules, of which only 200 were finished in UF White.

Powered by Mazda's turbocharged 1.8-litre DOHC engine producing 210bhp, driving all four wheels through a permanent 4WD system with a viscous limited-slip differential. Showing just 75,000 km (approximately 46,000 miles) from new and imported to the UK with one UK owner since registration.

Subject to approximately £15,000 of expenditure, including a glass-out bare-metal respray by MW Bodyshop, returning the car to an exceptional standard throughout. Numerous rare genuine Mazda exterior trim and mechanical components sourced directly from Japan during the restoration.

Upgraded with Bilstein coilovers, 17-inch OZ Rally alloy wheels on Toyo TR1 tyres, a Mazdaspeed carbon gear knob, Alcantara retrimmed steering wheel, retrimmed headlining, and a remote immobiliser/alarm system.

Mechanically, it remains close to factory specification, retaining its original Mazda catalytic converter and exhaust system. A major service was completed around 3,000 km ago, including a genuine Mazda cambelt and water pump, replacement fluids throughout the engine, gearbox, transfer box, and rear differential, Motul fully synthetic engine oil, NGK platinum spark plugs, air filter, and new brake discs and pads all round.

The car is accompanied by its original Japanese Export Certificate, HMRC NOVA confirmation, service history, V5C, original Mazda owner's handbook, and Japanese Familia book pack.

An increasingly rare homologation special, presented in exceptional condition and surely among the finest surviving examples available today.
