This 1960 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE Rally belonged to the first generation of the W111 series, known for its solid build quality and advanced engineering. At the time, this model was developed with an eye for both comfort and performance and was regularly used in long-distance rallies. The example was equipped with a powerful fuel-injected six-in-line engine mated to a manual transmission, which at the time provided a modern and reliable powertrain for long-distance sporting use. The 1960 220 SE Rally became popular with rally teams for its combination of power, endurance and luxurious finish.
